The excitement of the Commonwealth games is building and I’m sure everyone can’t wait for the games to begin. As we head into the last three weeks prior to the games I think we can all see that the traffic is beginning to build. Bearing this in mind please make sure that you are prepared for the impact of this on drop offs before school and pick-ups after school. Our final week of the term will see a significant elevation in traffic numbers. Our concern here is ensuring that all students are safely picked up after school at 3pm. Please make arrangements for your children to be picked up if you think that the traffic is going to cause you an issue. The PCYC also runs after school programs and this may alleviate any worry you have about being able to pick your children up on time.
The games organisers have encouraged all of us who live on the Gold Coast to
Reduce (the number of trips you make in your vehicle)
Re-mode (consider using public transport instead of your car)
Re-time (leave earlier than usual to avoid congestion)
Re-route (consider alternative routes to avoid the major pinch points in traffic)
Be mindful of where you see the yellow lines indicating Games Lanes – they will be off limits to traffic over the Easter holidays and will be heavily monitored by the police.
