Students at Labrador State School have access to a variety of sporting opportunities. They have the capacity to engage in sport during lessons, interschool sport, development officers (touch, oztag, rugby league, badminton) and district events, such as swimming, cross country and athletics.

Labrador State School is fortunate to have excellent resources to support student’s development. The 25m pool is utilized in term 1 and 4.  Qualified instruction helps to develop water confidence and awareness, stroke development and correction.

The school hall is also a fantastic resource. It offers great protection from the sun, whilst being able to offer a fantastic space to develop ball and games skills.

Our tree lined oval provides a great environment for running, kicking and developing game skills. It hosts our cross country and all annual athletic carnivals.

Labrador has a proud history of participation and achievement in interschool sport. We have traditionally participated in sports such as soccer and netball. The interschool sport program operates in term 2 and runs for 4 weeks.

Opportunities exist for students who excel in a particular sport to represent our district, region and state, through district trials. Students who wish to participate would need to be operating at a representative standard on the weekends with their respective sports. Sports such as rugby league, soccer, touch, netball, hockey, rugby union, AFL, tennis, cricket are offered.

The aim of the Physical Education team at Labrador is to create a fun, happy learning environment where students find a lifelong love of physical movement, build up physical capacity, and strive to improve.
